Frequently Asked Questions
How do I become a volunteer?
Simply fill out the form and Judith, our Volunteer Coordinator, will contact you with next steps. In order to be a volunteer, you must be able to commit 2-4 hours/week, have a clean background, clear a TB test, and be able to provide your own transportation.
What skills are required for volunteering?
Many of our volunteers simply sit with the patients. Some will read or play music. Medical experience is not required since volunteers are not allowed to administer medication or handle patients by themselves. If you have a heart for serving others and if you are compassionate for the elderly, volunteering may be for you!
What can I contribute?
Volunteers are a necessary part to the work of Lighthouse Hospice Group. Most of our volunteers are just as changed from their experience as the patients and their families. This last phase of life requires extra care and compassion, so we welcome any one who has administrative skills or a positive attitude to volunteer with Lighthouse Hospice Group!
